The video industry is also seeing a boom in the market, with people spending more time watching videos from companies like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, etc.

DIRECTV

DIRECTV is an alternative for cable television services. It is America’s #1 satellite TV provider and one of the largest digital entertainment providers in the world.

DIRECTV offers national coverage with local service, giving you the most complete home TV entertainment package available to enjoy sports, movies, and shows from the best in entertainment

More than 30 million people in America and Latin America use DIRECTV’s services and have access to more than 100 channels, with some offering HD streaming.

This company’s content is similar to subscription TV services, satellite radio services, broadcast TV networks, and private video providers. However, the advanced technology they utilize makes it different & better.

Are there TV Channels or Programs in English?

It depends upon one’s TV channels provider and TV package. Some programs are available in both Spanish and English. You can change the language by pushing a button on the RemoteControl.

For example, some properties have Fox News Channel from the USA in English or CNN International from Hong Kong or London in English.

When we had Directv Colombia, any of the programs available in English, it was possible to switch the language, but the monthly payment was more expensive.

Can I change a Spanish Channel to English?

Yes, but before that, you should know a couple of things.

There is a huge difference between DIRECTV and DIRECTV Latin America. Both connections have Spanish channels, but DIRECTV Latin America has the most Spanish channels. Know the difference before installing.

The Spanish stations of DIRECTV have SAP. Ask the salesperson to demo the capability on a showroom TV.

There is an option to change language in the settings menu. The language option in the settings menu is the language of the onscreen display for commands from the remote.

I don’t think it is an issue with the audio track. Find a program in Spanish, then change the language setting to English and see if the language changes.

Can I change an English channel to Spanish?

Have you ever experienced COX defaulting many of its NFL/Football broadcasts to Spanish as the primary language? So if you go to your TV language and COX menu language/SAPand hit “reset” (default or “English”), your broadcast stays in Spanish.

To fix this, pause the game while watching, with no menu showing. Then a small menu pops up along the bottom, showing pause, rewind, fast forward. On the left side of the screen, there is “AD,” “SAP,” and “CC.” Use the arrow keys and scroll to SAP. Do this within 3 seconds, or the menu will disappear. Then it will highlight audio options and click enter. Select Spanish and click enter, and then it puts the Spanish language as the secondary language. Follow the same procedure to change an English channel into Spanish.

How to switch audio on DIRECTV?

There are various mix stations up on DIRECTV, and it is possible to switch the audio.

They are the new Interactive stations. For full functionality, you need an interactive receiver with Mosaic. The R10 is a mosaic-capable receiver. There audio is available only on the Mosaic capable receivers and some current HD receivers that can get a software upgrade.

Usually, it does depend on the box. With some, you can joystick it. With others, you have to select the language as you’d do with a movie if you wanted English 2, Spanish, etc.

To change the audio on DIRECTV Tivo units (including HD Tivo), select info, then language. Labels are English 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. It would help if you counted across to figure it out.

I have a Hughes receiver (About 1.5 years old); mine also changes the audio with the right directional arrow; instead of flipping between ‘English’ and ‘Spanish,’ the choices are ‘English 1’ ‘English 2’ etc.

Change the audio on the mixed channels through the PCM audio setting on your remote. Normally on your multi-direction pad, change the audio setting from English to Spanish. You should be able to toggle through the audio on all channels shown. Or else press the SAP button on your remote.

What is the SAP button?

Secondary audio programming (SAP) is a language to explain things said within a program. It provides audio tracks in languages other than the language in the program is recorded.

To use this feature, you need the TV’s built-in antenna or cable without a set-top box. If you use a set-top box, DVR, satellite receiver, or other video sources, select languages from the menu of these devices.

Most TVs come with an MTS, SAP, or AUDIO button on the supplied remote control. You can turn it on or off from the TV menu for other TVs.

SAP settings typically appear in the Settings menu under Audio or Closed Caption. If you hear SAP when you view a program from a source device connected to the VIDEO input, please check the instruction manual of the source device to turn it on or off.

DIRECTV vs. DISH: Which is better?

DIRECTV and DISH are the leaders in the satellite television providers in the market. But it depends on your budget and whether you are into sports, movies or entertainment.

DIRECTV offers a 24 month commitment period. If you change your mind about terminating the contract, you must pay a $250 early cancellation fee. If you are a football lover, I suggest you try DIRECTV because they have an NFL Sunday Ticket.

For entertainment, DISH has various DVR options, including the Hopper. DISH is cheap and does not have hidden taxes or sudden price hikes.

DIRECTV’s prices range from $74.99–$149.99 for 200 HD hours with 330 channels. DISH is 69.99–$104.99 for 24 months with 290 tracks and 500 HD hours.

Regarding DIRECTV plans, the Entertainment plan has your basic favorite channels, while the Choice plan gets you a lot of sports channels and the Ultimate plan for movie watchers.
